Boardwalk Ice House is a Gulf Coast Cajun icehouse on the water in Kemah, Texas. James Caldwell built it to be the kind of place people come back to. Good food, cold drinks, no pretense.
Everything on the menu is made from scratch. The wings are smoked low and slow before they ever touch a fryer. The étouffée starts with a hand made roux. The Bushwacker is the real thing. None of it comes out of a bag.

The wings are the real deal
We drove down from Nassau Bay on a Saturday and ended up staying for three hours. The wings come out crispy with the smoke still in them. The Bushwacker is dangerously good. We will be back! Thanks for having us James.

Best spot on the Kemah waterfront.
Finally a place on the boardwalk that takes the food seriously. The crawfish roll was outstanding and the frozen margarita was perfect in the heat. Feels like a locals spot even though we just found it. James, the owner is super nice!

Those loaded fries are unreal.
We ordered the loaded Cajun fries as a side and ended up ordering a second round as a main. The étouffée on top of the fries is not something you expect to work as well as it does. Outstanding.

A proper icehouse with Cajun food made from scratch. The catfish tacos were fresh and the hushpuppies were perfect. Cold beer, good food, within a stones throw of the water. Cannot ask for more than that.
